Hunter Ryan Jones.Academics and Future Plans

I have been attending the University of Miami since 2010 majoring in public relations with a minor in business administration. I feel that the field I have chosen to major in will greatly help me achieve my career aspirations and dreams of working in the sports industry. After my years as an undergraduate are over, I would like to attend law school to pursue a career in Sports and Entertainment law.

Acquired Business Experience and Skills

Beyond the classroom, I have acquired skills I find suitable for entering the “real world.” Professionalism and reliability are two values I practice daily at school or with any job or problem that is put in front of me. This past summer I completed a paid internship with the Houston Texans NFL franchise. Working with the Texans I acquired a great deal of knowledge about the practices and operations of the sports world. During my employment I reported for work every morning at 4:30 a.m. and worked 15 hours a day, to help promote and carry out procedures of the franchise. I also handled relations and activities between fans, sponsors and the franchise players.

In addition to my summer work, recently my friend and I have started a small business fixing broken iPhones and reselling them to University of Miami students. This part-time business has taught me how to build rapport and customer relationships. Quality, reliability and customer service are paramount to our success. I believe that once relationships are formed it is important that people can count on me to make correct choices and conduct my business with integrity. Carrying out these small business operations has supplied me with the confidence and experience to perform such operations on a much larger scale.

I believe my course of study, skills and experiences can translate into a successful work experience at any job or occupation.
